Photo Therapy

PhotoTherapy -- The Bigger Picture

As explained in the book, PhotoTherapy Techniques -- Exploring the Secrets of Personal Snapshots and Family Albums, PhotoTherapy is best viewed as an interrelated system of photo-based counseling techniques used by trained mental health professionals as part of their therapeutic practice while helping clients consciously probe, and subsequently cognitively reintegrate, their photo-precipitated insights in order to better understand and improve their life.

The book : PhotoTherapy Techniques --
Exploring the Secrets of Personal Snapshots and Family Album
by Judy Weiser, R.Psych., A.T.R., Director, PhotoTherapy Centreis available thru the Photo Therapy website, and thru Amazon.

I ordered my copy last night.

Motivational Interviewing and the Larger Lesson

Last week I attended a day long workshop on Motivational Interviewing (MI), a counseling technique. We learned specific techniques, but one of the best things I took away from the seminar was the idea of The SPIRIT of MI.

This morning during my run, I realized that this idea of
SPIRIT applies in many areas of experience. When I focus on the Spirit of a person, I can view things in their proper size, and not blow one incident out of proportion.

Conversely, when I am trying to outline something, to paint a picture of a scenario, instead of trying to list
every single incident that is illustrative of something, I can name as many as come to mind readily, and from there, infer and state the SPIRIT.
